About
We are a dedicated duo of writers and are currently working on at least 3 musicals! From Liza Battles the Instruments of Destiny, a heartfelt cartoon-inspired story about a kid, a comic, a destiny, and the trans experience through a high school lens, to The ICARUS Project, a steam-punk re-imagining of the myth of Icarus, we like to think we’re writing for everyone. We are additionally dedicated to the development of diversity across musical theatre and specifically the development of trans, queer, and gender non-conforming roles in our shows. We both think it is vital that musical theatre becomes a more accepting space for all, and are committed to contributing to this in any way we can!
Liza Battles the Instruments of Destiny
Liza Battles the Instruments of Destiny follows a high-schooler named Jules as they navigate the day to day challenges of high school and the struggles of exploring their gender identity. The story is told through a mix of Jules’ experiences and the comic they are creating. The comic tells the story of Liza, a girl who fights villains with her guitar, as she attempts to defeat various enemies and rescue a hero who will, supposedly, save her home city. This musical highlights how relatable comics and cartoons can be to the queer experience and the challenges queer people, espically young teens, face when trying to find themselves.

Assemble Me
Assemble Me, originally a collection of poems by Christine Sells, is a song cycle discussing gender, identity, and type in theatre. The song cycle has four non-gendered voices filling the roles of Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Baritone. There is additionally a non-binary “Reader” who does a series of spoken sections that tie the piece together. Assemble Me is contemplative and intended to provoke thought about concepts like gender from a genderqueer perspective.
The ICARUS Project
The ICARUS Project is a steampunk retelling of the Myth of Icarus. The musical takes place at an invention fair full of inventors presenting their ideas on how to save their flying city that is falling out of the sky. The show focuses on Ariadne, an aspiring inventor, and her automaton Icarus as they both attempt to figure out what matters most to them: success and fame through the powerful company Helios or the lives of their friends and the thousands of strangers who call the city home. This show is a commentary on the impact of monopolies and environmental changes on society and everyday life. The book is being written in partnership with KG Uslan. However, the show is currently on indefinite hiatus.
Other Projects
We are always interested in working on other projects, such as incidental music, individual songs, or other not-strictly-musical-theatre ideas. We recently worked on a student-led production of Stop Kiss by Diana Son, directed by KG Uslan, as both co-sound designers and creators of additional music. The song used in the beginning of the show, Get to Know You, was released as an EP on all major streaming platforms.
